Farmhouse on the Ashdown Estate: Cement Removed, Lime Plastered

About This Project

Traditional Lime Mortar Specialists In Wiltshire

This farmhouse on the Ashdown Estate had bad damp. The cause was cement plaster on solid walls, trapping moisture in the masonry. The cement was removed and the walls replastered in an NHL 2 lime mix.

A soft NHL 2 lime lets the walls breathe, so moisture can evaporate from the surface instead of building up behind the plaster. It is one of the most effective ways to cure damp in an old building.
